About

With over 37 years’ experience in manufacturing and sales, Ravensbourn Limited has established a reputable position within the container market.

How We Got Started

Founded in 1979 by David and Monica Meredith, Ravensbourn Plastics Ltd produced its first injection moulded part in a small factory in Woodville, Derbyshire. With a growing reputation and emerging success in the 1980s, Ravensbourn moved to a bigger factory in Tamworth.

The company’s first major success came in the form of milk crates, which were developed by Ravensbourn for the dairy industry. This development saw Ravensbourne work with large dairy companies including:

Moving into Different Markets

Due to ongoing success, two sister companies were developed to handle demand: Unicorn Plastics and Woodall Plastics, respectively. Each company was designated specific contracts and customers depending on their needs.

It was from here, and the continued success of the companies, that Ravensbourn began scoping out other markets before deciding that the bread tray market seemed suitable. The consequent launch was successful and Ravensbourn quickly won multiple contracts from major bakeries, including:

Purpose Built Factory and the Automotive Industry

In 1997, Ravensbourn moved into a purpose-built factory in Burton on Trent. Whilst continuing to thrive in the container industry Ravensbourn began working with global automotive companies to produce parts, including:

Narrowing Focus to the Dairy and Bread Industries

In the early 2000s, the decision was made to focus on the two main industries that had bought Ravensbourn success, the dairy and bakery industries. By 2005, Ravensbourn, Unicorn Plastics, and Woodall Plastics had merged together to become Ravensbourn Container Systems, with the sole focus of marketing and distribution of dairy and bakery products.

Today, Ravensbourn continues to build on its core business and with many new projects in the pipeline, and the future looks set to be an exciting one.
